Lorena Glisson
(She/They)
Art Therapy Intern
Meet Lorena
I'm Lorena, a white, neurodivergent, queer woman pursuing my master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling at Drexel University.
I'm passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and bringing more queer joy and comfort to the world! I intend to create a collaborative relationship with my clients, allowing myself to learn with them as we work to support their specific goals and needs. I offer a warm and bright disposition and hope to give my clients a comfortable space to exist as their authentic selves. I utilize a relational approach informed by feminist and queer theories, which aims to value the unique experiences and beliefs that inform an individual’s reality and identity. As an art therapist in training, I can also use art making and creative expression to support clients to feel empowered and develop a visual narrative of their progress.
My clinical experience has allowed me to work with a wide range of clients, from toddlers to older adults, spanning many backgrounds and intersectional identities. I have experience supporting clients with medical anxiety, depression, and social adjustment. My goal is to aid the communities I hold close to me through counseling and empower my clients to progress toward their personal goals.
